The School of Architecture and Technology UCJC thinks about the city as the first academic and professional scope, the main study, analysis and research topic: urban innovation as a set of complex and interdependent systems, the real gravity center for all the Bachelors and Master programs.
Urban Design and Management.
The Urban Design and Management programme has been established after long debate on the existence of an important number of new areas of knowledge relative to contemporary cities and to our increasingly urban world. According to recent studies nearly two-thirds of the population is expected to reside in cities by 2030. This phenomenon will bring changes in society, economy and environment, which will affect patterns and forms of urbanization.
The Urban Design and Management programme is intended for those who wish to pursue a professional career in urban, regional and environmental design. It consists of 240 ECTS organized in four academic years. The first three establish a common core of interdisciplinary compulsory modules, combining areas such as Social and Legal Sciences, Technology and Environmental Sciences. All of them constitute the framework for interdisciplinary approach to urban design and management complemented by instruments of planning such as drawing, cartography, digital systems and tools. The fourth year is designed on a set of optional modules which can be customized for particular student´s needs.
It is important to highlight the collaborative nature of the degree, where multidisciplinary teams are fundamental learning tools aiming to stimulate entrepreneurship, cooperation and real world experience.
